In the master class

The profession of reed roofing is a very very old and interesting process that has several steps. This includes the creation of a roof batten, the laying of surfboards, the preparation of reeds for work, the creation of fastenings and, finally, the laying of reed roofing (roofing).
One of the goals of the Curonian Spit Foundation is to pass on and train young people in this historic construction technique. The open workshops (master classes) take place mainly in the village of Pape within the framework of the project “RESTORATION OF HISTORICAL REED ROOFS IN PAPE COOKS VILLAGE”.
